Siegen. On Sunday, the Artgalerie in Siegen opened the exhibition Thomas Kellner: Chapel Schools. Thomas Kellner shows in this exhibition his second part about the Siegerland. After the half-timbered houses, a tribute to Bernd and Hilla Becher, he has used the time of the pandemic for another series about his homeland. Following a decree of Prince Wilhelm I of Nassau-Dillenburg, these bi-functional buildings were built from the 16th century onwards around Dillenburg, in what is now Hesse, in the Westerwald and, above all, in what is now Siegerland and Wittgenstein. Thomas Kellner has dissected them in his typical manner in the contact sheet, very differently set in motion and presents the eponymous exhibition with black and white images in the Artgalerie until February 11, 2022. To accompany the exhibition, a comprehensive catalog is published by Seltmann Publishers, Berlin.
