The DADAists declared war on established art forms, civil and political culture. Noise music, simultaneous lectures, random poems, photomontages, collages and common everyday objects were her means of expression.
Richard Huelsenbeck, one of the co-founders of DADAism, lived in Dortmund and is buried in the local southern cemetery.
For the 100th anniversary of DADAismus 2016, Dortmund artists decided to revive this source of DADA in Dortmund. In the ViVa DADA? 20 exhibition, the DADADOists present their own formats and, in readings, performances and spatial adaptations, recall the 1st International DADA Fair 1920 in Berlin and the Dortmund Richard Huelsenbeck and the writer Jürgen Kalle Wiersch.
