A long mile of art at the day of North Rhine-Westphalia 2010 in the city of Siegen

A "mile" for fine art 2010

Thomas Kellner member of the ASK (association of siegerland artists) initiated the possibility for a street of art during the event together with the society of city marketing, Martin Horne, and further institutions of art.
The so called NRW-Tag 2010 (Day for states parliament in local cities North Rhine-Westphalia parliament usually based in Duesseldorf visits the city of Siegen) will take place from 17th September until 19th September 2010.
The event is organized in so called “miles”. There will be miles for tourism, sports, non-for profits, etc. Artists were approached by the department of city marketing to organize exhibitions all through the city. My question was does that make sense? Exhibitions we do all year through, but we never get a chance to present art and our institutions in on e place at one time. And on top in the city map that will be printed we would be only little dots. With a whole mile of art, Fine Arts would reach a much higher visibility.
Every institution of art can take part at this event and present themselves, their work and their plans for the future. The city expects about 300.000 visitors, who will come to this event.
