You & Me
In der Ausstellung You & Me im Künstler Haus Bethanien zeigt Thomas Kellner vom 24. Mai bis zum 17. Juni 2018 zwanzig Arbeiten von Künstlern mit denen er zehn seiner Arbeiten über zehn Jahre getauscht hat.
You meint in dieser Ausstellung im Künstlerhaus Bethanien zuerst den anderen Künstler, den er in seinem Atelier ausstellt und mit dem er vielleicht eine Arbeit tauscht. You ist aber auch das Kunstwerk, daß Kellner zu sich nach Hause einlädt, um es kennenzulernen, so wie es der Besucher einer Ausstellung mit Neuem konfrontiert wird. You ist der Gast im Atelier. You kann es ohne das Me nicht geben. You & Me sind wie Ying und Yang sich notwendig ergänzende Teile eines Ganzen. #youtoo sollte neben #metoo für die künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit dem menschlichen Körper stehen. Das Bildnis des menschlichen Körpers kann nicht der Alter Ego für Sexismus bedeuten. Das Bild des Menschen, seines Gesichtes, seines Charakters, seiner Physiognomie und Sexualität ist immer auch ein Spiegel der Gesellschaft. So stehen in dieser Ausstellung Bilder im Zentrum, die den Menschen zeigen. Vom Moralapostel bis zum Satanismus, von Ikonen bis zum Selbstporträt, verletzt und verletzend, bissig und selbstironisch spannen hier Fotografen und Fotografinnen einen Bogen, der nicht pornografisch aber der Prüderie einer Sexismus Debatte trotzt.
Dem gegenüber stehen Kellners Bilder von Architekturen, die unsere Welt ins Wanken bringen. Thomas Kellner stellt in seinen Bildern die Frage nach unserem Weltbild, dass durch die renaissancsche Zentralperspektive bis heute bestimmt wird. Kellner löst den zentralen Fokuspunkt auf und macht einen anderen Vorschlag: Multiperspektivisch, zerlegt in viele Sichtweisen verbinden sich die Teile zu einem neuen Ganzen, das nicht mehr statisch, sondern synthetisch dynamisch ein anderes Weltbild vorschlägt.
Thomas Kellner versteht sich nicht nur als Künstler, sondern auch als Netzwerker und Kenner des Marktes in dem er sich bewegt. Thomas Kellner bändelt mit Kollegen an, mit Kuratoren und Journalisten, aber nicht, um seine Arbeit zu präsentieren, sondern häufig nur die seiner Kollegen.
Seit vielen Jahren nutzt er sein Siegener Atelier als Dreh und Angelpunkt seiner globalen Netzwerke. Mit dem Ziel, ein Netzwerk unter Kollegen aufzubauen, eine gegenseitige Förderung und Entwicklung sowie einen stets wechselnden Austausch unter Künstlern zu schaffen, investiert er bereits seit zwanzig Jahren viel Engagement in seine Vorhaben. Die jährlich stattfindenden Treffen, zu denen Kellner seine Kollegen aus der ganzen Welt einlädt, haben schon so manche überraschend frische und außergewöhnliche Ausstellung hervorgebracht.

You & Me
In the exhibition You & Me at Künstler Haus Bethanien, Thomas Kellner will be showing twenty works by artists with whom he has traded ten of his works over ten years from May 24 to June 17, 2018.
In this exhibition at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, you first mean the other artist that he exhibits in his studio and with whom he may be exchanging a work. You are also the work of art that Kellner invites to his home to get to know it, just as the visitor of an exhibition is confronted with something new. You is the guest in the studio. You can not give it without the me. Like Ying and Yang, You & Me are necessary complementary parts of a whole. #youtoo should stand next to #metoo for the artistic exploration of the human body. The image of the human body can not mean the alter ego for sexism. The image of the human being, of his face, of his character, of his physiognomy and sexuality is always a reflection of society. For example, in this exhibition, the focus is on images that show people. From the moral apostle to Satanism, from icons to self-portrait, injured and hurtful, biting and self-deprecating, here photographers and photographers draw a bow that defies not pornographic but the prudery of a sexism debate.
In contrast, Kellner's images of architecture are what make our world shake. Thomas Kellner asks in his pictures the question of our world view, which is determined by the renaissance central perspective to this day. Kellner dissolves the central focus point and makes another suggestion: Multiperspectively, broken down into many points of view, the parts combine to form a new whole that no longer proposes a static, but a synthetic, dynamic worldview.
Thomas Kellner sees himself not only as an artist, but also as a networker and connoisseur of the market in which he moves. Thomas Kellner lures with colleagues, with curators and journalists, but not to present his work, but often only those of his colleagues.
For many years he has been using his Siegen Atelier as the hub of his global networks. With the aim to build a network among colleagues, to create mutual support and development as well as an ever-changing exchange among artists, he has been investing a lot of commitment in his projects for the last twenty years. The annual meetings, to which Kellner invites his colleagues from all over the world, have produced many a surprisingly fresh and extraordinary exhibition.
