photograpehrs:network selection 2009 part of Siegen summer arts selection

This year, the photographers:network project is attracting a great deal of interest and events seem to be coming thick and fast.

As in previous years since the photographers:network project was launched in the Friedrichstrasse studio, the Künstlerhaus in the center of Siegen will once again become a lively meeting place for the photography scene at the end of June.

Every year, Thomas Kellner, initiator of the project, invites colleagues from all over the world to apply to take part in a group exhibition in his studio. The selection is supervised by a changing international jury. So far, the project has been supported by: Thomas Gerwers, Profifoto, Burkhard Arnold, in focus Galerie, Cologne, Gerard Goodrow, eh. Director ArtCologne, Thomas Poller, Galerie Poller, Frankfurt/, NewYork, Alison Nordstrom, George Eastman House Rochester/USA, Dagmar Peveling, Galerie Peveling, Cologne, Dr. Claude Wing Sui, Reichs Enelhorn Museum, Mannheim, Michael Mazzeo Gallery New York and Irina Tchmyreva Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Nicole Stanner, Galerie f5.2, Munich, Diana Edkins, Aperture Foundation, New York, USA.

New this year is the support of Manfred Zollner from fotomagazin in Hamburg. The fotomagazin awarded a cash prize of 450 euros and a portfolio section in the magazine to Dirk Hanus, whose work will be honored in parallel to the exhibition in Friedrichstrasse at the Art Galerie. In addition to Manfred Zollner, this year's jury included: Thomas Gerwers from PROFIFOTO, who will again be reporting on the exhibition in the July issue, Beate Cegielska from Galleri Image in Aarhus, Denmark and Johan Sjöström from Göteborgs Konsthalle, Sweden.

In addition to the two magazines already mentioned, the first article on the international stage has now been added. The "Journal" of the Royal Photographic Society from London has just announced its interest in and work on an article on the Siegen project, which will be a charming addition to the crowned city in the month of the princely birthday and birthday of Peter Paul Rubens.

Many of the participants and also participants from previous years have already confirmed their attendance. On the first Saturday of the project, there will again be guest lectures in the lecture room at the Museum of Contemporary Art. - As is well known, a small meeting is followed by a larger one. This week, Thomas Kellner received another invitation to the world's largest international festival and portfolio viewing in Houston/Texas for 2010.
