face-to-face
Stuttgart. Thomas Kellner displays the exhibition "face-to-face, Das Menschenbild" at the collection of photographers:network 2004 - 2013 in Stuttgart.
Duration of the exhibition: June 5 to July 27 2014
2013 marked the tenth anniversary of the "photographers network" project, which was founded by freelance artist Thomas Kellner. With the aim of building a network among colleagues, creating mutual support and development as well as an ongoing exchange between artists, he has been investing a great deal of commitment into his project for ten years now. And successfully so.
The annual meetings, to which Kellner invites his colleagues from all over the world, have already produced some surprisingly fresh and unusual exhibitions. An expert jury consisting of journalists, gallerists and curators selects the best works, awards a portfolio prize and nominates a solo exhibition. This way, the participants gain notoriety and benefit from each other's experience and wealth of ideas.
To mark the anniversary of his project, Thomas Kellner looks back on the last ten years and considers whether his project has left its mark. What effect has the project had on his colleagues, on their work? How is such an accumulation of creativity and the diversity of ideas expressed in the work itself? This year's exhibition features the best works of the last ten years. The focus is on the human being, an emotional being in whose face you can read the traces of life, the traces of the past: "face-to-face".
