Artists from Siegen in Beijing
The artists of the Workgroup are spending a lot of time in Beijing getting to know the country and its culture. Of particular interest are the artists' houses outside Beijing and the already reputable 798 factory site, where Chinese and international galleries were established after artists began moving to the area and setting up studios. Here, Art has become a driving economic factor, as well as a tourist attraction. The largest hub for Chinese and international art has been developing here for the last 10 years. On Wednesday afternoon, the delegation from the Siegen-Wittgenstein district and members of the press joined the group. A visit to the exhibition in the Yang Huan Museum was an exciting encounter for all. All were delighted at the opportunity to visit the Forbidden City, as well as the Great Wall on Thursday. Much time is being spent with conversations and interviews, learning about country and culture from our tour guides and also getting acquainted with the Chinese board game Mahyong.
