Harrods is the largest department store in the world with over one million square feet of selling space. The Store, owned by Mohamed al-Fayed specializes in luxury goods. Harrods was founded in London’s East End by Charles Henry Harrod in 1834. In 1883 Harrods burnt down in a fire and was rebuilt between 1894 and 1903 in eclecticism architectural styles by Charles William Stephens. The Harrods brand also applies to other enterprises undertaken by the Harrods group of companies including Harrods Bank, Harrods Estates, Harrods Casino, Harrods Aviation, and Air Harrods.
