Teotihuacán was, at its height in the first half of the 1st millennium CE, the largest pre-Columbian city in the Americas. The pyramid El Sol is the second largest building in prehispanic Amerika and is located in Teotihuacán 40 kilometres far away of Mexico City. IT was built in two periods. The first one around 100 AD were the main complex arose and the second were the altar was added. It has got a total height of 63 metres and measures 225 diameters. It was covered with lime and colourful murals, but they do not exist anymore. It was used to worship the Aztec gods.
