Munich, Maximilianeum
The Maximilianeum, a palatial building in Munich, was built as a home of a gifted students´ foundation and also houses the Bavarian Landtag state parliament since 1949.Construction started in 1857 and was finished in 1874. It was designed by Friedrich Buerklein in neo-renaissance architectural styles. It was fashioned in three sections: a slightly concave massive centre building and two straight wings. The interior is decorated with 19th century works of art, including about 30 pieces that were commissioned by Maximilian II.
