Master Arnold was the second Dombaumeister of the Cologne Cathedral from 1271 till 1299, following Gerhard von Rile, known as Master Gerhard.In 1814, one half of the 4.05-meter revised façade plan by Gerhard's second successor, master cathedral builder Arnold, was rediscovered by Georg Moller in Darmstadt, and the other by Sulpiz Boisserée in Paris in 1816
