The company was founded 60 years ago and started designing cowsheds and farm buildings and went on to reshape the Kowloon district of Hong Kong, among other locations worldwide.Benoy, founded in Newark, Nottinghamshire, is one of the world’s leading firms of Architects, Masterplanners and Interior and Graphic Designers.While continuing to develop its reputation in the retail and leisure markets, the privately-owned practice is now achieving widespread international acclaim in urban regeneration and in the mixed-use, transport, workspace, and residential sectors.The company remains fiercely proud of its Nottinghamshire roots and its UK portfolio, but now sees some 60 per cent of its business delivered overseas, predominantly in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Benoy was named Interior Design Firm of the Year at the Asia Pacific Real Estate Awards, where its project Elements at Kowloon was also heralded as Retail/Leisure Development of the Year. In 2007 the mixed-use Elements scheme won Best Shopping Centre at the international property conference and exhibition MIPIM Asia. Other international wins are the New Market Entrant of the Year at the UKTI India Business Awards and the Cathay Pacific Award for Enterprise.
Today Benoy has got offices in five countries and almost 500 employees of 38 different nationalities and has delivered its global ambitions in a way that makes it sensitive to local cultures, environments and characters.
