About the exhibition

This small installation of 10 works from the MFAH photography collection continues the conversation started by the exhibition Faking It: Manipulated Photography before Photoshop. Although photographers have long used manual techniques to alter their images, digital cameras and software applications such as Adobe Photoshop have made this process quicker, easier, and more accessible than ever before.

Faking It reveals the ways in which photographers used the tools of their day to manipulate images from the 1840s to 1980s. After Photoshop: Manipulated Photography in the Digital Age explores how artists use digital technology to alter photographic images in the 21st century.

Artists: Loretta Lux, Thomas Kellner, Michael Somoroff, Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao, Doug Rickard.
