Leipzig, Opera
Oper Leipzig is an opera house and opera company in Leipzig and was established in 1693, making it the third opera venue in Europe after La Fenice (Venice, Italy) and the Hamburg State Opera (Hamburg, Germany). During an air raid in the night of December 3, 1943, the theatre was destroyed so it was rebuilt in 1956 and inaugurated in October 1960. The front façade consists of light sandstone and has got a total length of 350 metres. It was remodelled by Kunz Nierade.
