The bridge was inaugurated on 15 December 2002. The Juscelino Kubitschek bridge, also known as Ponte JK, connects South Lake and St. Sebastian Paranoá, through the monumental axis of the lake Paranoá. The bridge has three arcs that cut the bridge in several sections diagonally. The six lanes of cars and two for pedestrians hang from those white arcs. It has a total length of 1200 meters, 24 meters wide. It was designed by architect Alexandre Chan and structural engineer Mário Vila Verde.
