The photos follow a dialectic sequence, high position and portraits.
Donetsk is a large city in eastern Ukraine, famous to be a heavily industrialized territory and a coal mining area suffering from urban decay and industrial pollution.
Paradoxically, during soviet time Donetsk had the reputation of one of the greenest city in ex-urss and was called city of a million roses.
So to describe the city today and don’t fall in cliché’ I have follow the traces of way of green. I have taken photos from the top of different roofs showing the presence of the green in the city center which is so diffuse and wild that I would like to define it as a forest.
Parallel I got down, moved between the trees and I have take portraits of the people who really lives and fight in this forest, the homeless (also known as Bomzhes in Russian). The last picture show a cut tree along a river, symbolic of a nature that still exists but it’s ill.
