Thomas Kellner

Dying Nature 1994

German photographer Thomas Kellner has been widely renowned for ”cubistic” depictions of famous buildings and has worked extensively with combining mulitple images.

In the early 90’s Thomas built several multipinhole cameras, in which a single piece of film, fused the image parts almost seamlessly into each other. He even made one camera with as many as 19 exposures on a very long piece of film. The one shown here has eleven holes, placed in a grid.

Each hole has it’s own shutter and the camera is loaded with a film sheet sized 16,4 x 23,5cm (6.4" x 9.2"), from which Thomas Kellner makes silver prints or cyanotypes.
